Muhly Grass (Muhlenbergia capillaris)
Muhlenbergia capillaris Another American Native Grass. This grass is used to the costal sandy soils of Florida, Texas and North Carolina. Knowing this we can assume it is pretty drought tolerant.
The large, purplish inflorescence plumes are up to 12 in. long, with many wide-spreading very thin branches. They appear in late summer, and persists for 6-8 weeks, possibly longer. We have them still showy at the end of December.
