Mazus - Blue (Mazus reptans)
This is a very low growing, (2 inch) spreading ground cover that forms a thick mat of tiny leaves with tiny tubular, purplish-blue flowers, spotted with yellow and white in the spring into summer. Naturally occurring white flowers will often appear in large colonies.
Mazus grows best in average to rich, moist but well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. It will also grow well in the open shade of tall deciduous trees. Mazus is very pretty when planted along walkways, as edging plants, or in rock gardens. Plants will tolerate light foot traffic.
