‘Heiligabend’, for my family in Germany the big Christmas Day.
We kids would spend most of the day in the kid’s room separated from the main apartment. The living room was draped off, so we could not spy going to the bathroom. My dad got the tree inside from the spot it was hanging outside from the bathroom window and started decorating. Meals for midday consisted of just broth and bread. Than at dusk, we would all bundle up and go for a walk in the neighborhood to heighten the excitement. Houses or yards where not decorated like in the US in those days, so we just get a glimpse into other folks windows. Than it was on, the ‘Bescherung’ (opening presents). My dad would ring the bell and we storm into the living room. Real candles on the tree, causing the occasional burning of a branch. After this a real big meal often duck, goose or rabbit. Still looking back kindly on this sweet tradition. The two Christmas days where reserved to visiting friend and family. Happy Holidays for all of you and may you have fun celebrating. The forecast calls for another nice Saturdays this week
at the Cooper Young Community Farmers Market. Friday night is going to be cold, and we are not able to bring our indoor Table Gardens. But our colorful winter hardy babies are still pretty stunning. They can come inside for the Holidays and garnish your indoor arrangements for a few days. The forecast calls for two more warm Saturdays
at the Cooper Young Community Farmers Market. So, we are able to bring our indoor and outdoor Table Gardens. When it gets colder, we can't bring them any more. Grab one of these colorful babies while the getting is good. Tomorrow and Saturday Dec. 22 from 9-1. There will be a full market tomorrow 46 spaces are taken. The truck is loaded and Stella's nest is ready as well. We are standing firm for the Holiday Market. Bundled up and ready. Feels just like a German Weihnachts Markt Of course they would have Glühwein and Cider with Bourbon... We will be at the usual Memphis Farmers Market Location and will have hot coffee, cocoa and food vendors. (not so bad)! Gardens Oy Vey & Table Gardens will be there.
We will have our Cold Hardy Gardens, Indoor Gardens have to stay behind, but we still have some beautiful and festive Winter/Summer Gardens for many locations.
