Moonlight (Schizophragma hydrangeoides 'Moonlight')
Wouldn't you like to say this to your garden friends 'Schizophragma'? Well you can if you purchase this one for you garden. Not actually a real hydrangea, this tall growing deciduous vine with very showy flowers is not well known in the U.S., but in the deep forest outside Hokkaido, Japan it grows everywhere.
Try planting 'Moonlight' at the base of a wall or a tree trunk and watch it ramble on! The lacy white flowers of this cultivar can grow up to 9 in. across and are ringed with porcelain-colored bracts. 'Moonlight' is distinguished by its spectacular heart-shaped leaves, whose deep green veins and silvery overlays create a striking pattern, and in autumn turn orange-red.
Blooms July-August.
