We are at the Moment Blessed with Cool Overcast Weather and Occasional Rain Here in Memphis Tennessee. Almost unheard of! And Completely Welcome!
We are heading into FALL. What should be THE MOST IMPORTANT SEASON for GARDENERS.
Here in Zone 7/8 it's TIME FOR US TO:
Design and Prep our Fall Planting Beds.
Prepare to move Trees and Shrubs that need new locations.
Fertilize.
Renew Mulch.
Mulch with Compost, Manure, or Coffee Grounds for Plant Caviar.
Sow Greens into our Flower beds for Food and Fun.
Sow "Wildflowers" into our beds for mulch.
Sculpt our Trees Now or February.
Shear very lightly any shrubs that have lost their shape.
Overseed Lawns with Winter Rye Grass. (Weed Suppression.)
And/Or Apply Corn Gluten Meal to our lawns. (When Rye Grass is up)
Collect and Store Leaves to use as compost next year or for New Beds
I LOVE Fall. It is an exciting time and should be The Busiest Gardening Months. Working on your Garden in Fall Relieves you of the panic and stress of "The Spring Rush". As Farmers we have learned to work in Spring.
As Gardeners we need to work in Fall. This will put you ahead of the weeds. You will find Garden Centers and Landscapers are more available and glad to see you.
Also It RAINS ALL WINTER!! So your plants are well established for the SUMMER DROUTH. Also there are NO SNAKES, MOSQUITOS, OR BEES! Don't forget the HEAT! OY!
Wolfgang and I are busy with FARMER'S MARKETS, SATURDAY SALES, and GARDEN DESIGN as well as our Own Garden Chores.
The Memphis Farmers Market &
Farmers' Market at the Garden.
We are open here at the nursery every Saturday throughout the Fall. Check with us in November or December as we may take a road trip one of those Saturdays.
We are Attaching some links that will help you with all of your Fall and Winter Gardening.
Best Wishes and Many Thanks. Diane, Wolfgang and Gardensoyvey.com
Greetings Y'all.
