The folk names for this all the way around fragrant shrub are a many as its scents.

'Sweetshrub', 'Carolina allspice', 'Sweet Betsy', 'Strawberry shrub', 'Bubble gum bush'.

Take your pick, enjoy the aroma of the bark, the leaves and most of all the dark
brown, sweet scented flowers. A great plant for touching, sniffing and walking up close.

The plants will reach a usual height of 8 to 12 feet and spread to 6 to 12 feet, and might colonize via the shallow root system. Acid to neutral, rich soil,filtered sun to shade, moist with flooding tolerated, ours are doing very well in a very dry shady location.
