Annabelle - (Hydrangea arborescens 'Annabelle')
Oh Annabelle! Love this little tart. Flowers remind one of ohhhhh Dolly Parton. And a fine southern girl at that. Hardy, robust, opulant.
She pretends to be demure. Large 5x5'. Huge white flower heads. Totally bud hardy because it blooms on new wood. Can tolerate a bit more sun than most. Partners well with Deciduous Southern Shield Fern. Both can take more sun and the fern hide Anna's dirty little secret. Homely ankles. Full shade to part sun. Enjoy!
Plant a whole hedge. P.S. Once established, Annabelle is very tough. But she must be planted perfectly. In clay add pine bark and mix. Add fertilizer. In sand add much humus and fertilizer and mix. Create little mounds and plant. The girls just love this.)
Zone 4-8.
